How To Use Ac Manifold Gauge Set

Earlier servicing a vehicle, confirm system refrigerant type.  Cross contamination of refrigerants tin can cause damage to A/C system, service tools and equipment.

General MANIFOLD INFORMATION:

The right (blood-red) side of the manifold is the loftier side and the red gauge is the high force per unit area approximate.  The left (blue) side of the manifold is the low side and the bluish gauge is the vacuum/force per unit area gauge.  Separate passages from the depression and high side fittings to their corresponding gauges allow one to check pressure and vacuum readings.  The manifold body connects all iii fittings to each other by internal passages.

Note: If gauges practice non read 0 psi, remove guess face and adjust calibration screw to 0 psi.

Caution: Never open the high side valve on manifold gauge set up when the A/C System is operating.

Arrangement Performance:

Service couplers must be connected to a refrigerant hose and the refrigerant hose must be connected to a manifold estimate fix with both depression and high side valves in the closed position before connecting the couplers to an A/C Organisation.

  1. Close all valves on the manual service couplers and manifold judge set. Connect the loftier side coupler to the high side port and connect the low side coupler to the depression side port.
  2. Start the vehicle. Turn on the A/C system, and let information technology run until gauge readings stabilize.
  3. If the pressure shown on the gauges differ from the manufacturer's specs, make up one's mind the trouble and make necessary repairs.

SYSTEM EVACUATION:

  1. Recover all refrigerant from the system. Practice Non VENT REFRIGERANT TO THE Atmosphere, Utilize Advisable RECOVERY EQUIPMENT.
  2. Connect the BLUE hose to the low side service port. Connect the RED hose to the high side service port.  Connect the YELLOW hose to a vacuum pump.
  3. Open the HIGH and LOW manifold valves using the Red and Blue hand valves and start the pump.
  4. After evacuating the system according to the manufacturer's specs, shut both valves and plow off the vacuum pump. Disconnect the Yellowish charging hose from the vacuum pump and connect it to the appropriate refrigerant container.
  5. Later on all connections have been made, the refrigerant tin be added through the depression side per manufacturer's specifications.

CHARGING AN EMPTY Arrangement:

  1. Vehicle engine and the A/C system must both be off.
  2. Make certain that the dispensing valve on the refrigerant source is in the closed position.
  3. Make sure that both the high pressure and the low pressure level valves are in their closed position.
  4. Connect both high and low couplers to the A/C system's corresponding service ports. After connecting the couplers, open them by turning the knob on the top of them clockwise until they stop.
  5. Open valve on the refrigerant source.
  6. Open up the depression side valve on the manifold gauge gear up.
  7. Charge system until gauges read over 50 pounds of pressure.
  8. Shut low side valve on the manifold gauge set.
  9. Turn off High Side and Low Side valves on the manifold approximate set.
  10. Go to step # 4 in Charging an A/C Arrangement that is low on Refrigerant (below)

CHARGING AN A/C SYSTEM THAT IS LOW:

  1. Make certain that the dispensing valve on the refrigerant source is closed.
  2. Brand certain that both the high pressure and the low pressure valves are closed.
  3. Connect both couplers to the system'due south service ports. Afterwards, open them by turning the knob on the superlative of the coupler until it stops.
  4. Kickoff the vehicle. Ensure adequate air flow through the front end of the vehicle to avoid overheating.
  5. Turn on the A/C and set controls for MAX Absurd and loftier fan.
  6. Open the dispensing valve on the refrigerant source. (Proceed the refrigerant source upright at all times so that refrigerant tin can only enter the hoses as a gas.)  To brainstorm adding refrigerant (with system running) open the Bluish low side valve.  Permit the gas to flow into the organisation until the desired amount has been added or until the source container is empty.  Getting the required refrigerant amount into the system may have several minutes.
  7. When you have charged the arrangement to manufacturer's specs, close the manifold'southward blue valve. Let the compressor run and check the gauge readings to exist certain the organisation is operating properly.  If non, repair the arrangement as required by manufacturer'southward service manual.
  8. To disconnect the manifold when the system is filled and operating properly, shut the Blue (low side) and Scarlet (loftier side) mitt valves on the manifold.
  9. To disconnect the manual coupler, turn the knob on it until finger tight. Slide the coupler sleeve upward, releasing the coupler from the vehicle's service port.
  10. Replace protective caps on vehicle's service fittings.
